Mastitis is THE worst! I pumped for my little guy who was a preemie and had a NICU stay. He was about 2 weeks old when I woke up one morning and the entire right side of my body hurt...like HELL! It felt like I had been run over by a truck. I was feverish and sore and my right boob was HUGE and heavy and hard. I couldn't even lift myself out of the bed. A call into the doctor resulted in a script for antibiotics within about an hour. Thankfully...the very next day, I was about 80% better...but I was right there with you. I got that with my first and it SUCKED!!! You are smart to have done the lactation consultant, which I did not do and dealt with a yeast infection (yes, on my nipples) for weeks because i had no idea I wasn't supposed to hurt that bad. Anyway, eventually it turned to mastitis and I, too, had the lovely pus. I am so sorry you had to go thru that! It does go away fast once you get the meds, thank God!!!
