HA! You and me both! It took me three times as long to pack the carry-on stuff for the girls than it did to pack my own bags. So exhausting.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an extensive post on this. I'm sure I'm not the only mom who will benefit from it and appreciates it. Lots of good advice and suggestions! Just what I was looking for. :-)

Great job on the advice. I do not think that i could add anything and we have been flying with babies for nine years.

So funny that you are from SoCal. We lived in Riverside for 8 years and i miss it so much. My kids LOVED Irvine Regional Park:)

Some of the best advice always comes from the 'been there done that' crowd. I have a friend who has a 2 1/2 year old and they started flying with her at about 2 months old. She flies about 3 times a year...sometimes more. The daddy's family lives in the north and the mommy's family lives in the east. We all live in the mid west.

Awesome! We're hopefully doing Disney in March and I was wondering about the babysaway solutions and got a quote from them for a crib and carseat and now you mention them and i'm sooo glad. I hadn't thought about getting the carseat from the car rental company, i'll look into that - that would be awesome, not to have to haul it or worry about it at all. The grandparents are traveling with us, so I think that'll help overall - to have extra people to field snacks and yelling and whatnot. Thank you!

Great ideas! We flew Seattle to Orlando non-stop and I totally agree that a layover would have been much wiser. We were THOSE people on the flight home, and it was awful. Not only does a layover help to stretch out, then you have a whole new group of people who don't hate you.

We just did a long drive (12+ hours) for Christmas, and that's a whole different ballgame. However, we bought two PeaPod travel bed/tents and they were AWESOME. I highly recommend them, very lightweight and easy to use. Plus the boys really loved being in them.
