A lot of good advice – ESPECIALLY about timing the naps with the party. You do not want 2 cranky babies.

Theme? Well, I didnt really have a theme for the girls 1st bday party per se (last year). I purchased the “first birthday diva” plates & theme and went off of that (birthday express has them)

I just went with a color scheme of purple & pink (dresses, tutus, streamers, cakes, baloons)

You def dont need a theme though.
FYI- Bday express sent me 2 boxes filled with stuff by mistake, and I never got a chance to return one box, so it’s yours if you want it!

If you really want a theme, you could go with Florida Oranges. Or just get orange and yellow balloons (maybe a couple other colors). Or, get balloon the color of the Twister game (including orange) and do that, or polka dots. You could make orange jello…shots.

Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’s going to be a great memory. The things that go well, the hiccups, the highs, he lows. It’s going to be a great memory!

Orange plates, plastic green forks/spoons, yellow napkins…..orange, green, yellow balloons…………….A white cake with white frosting ………orange words that say Happy Birthday PipSqueak (or whatever), and yellow around the side of the cake…………..That’s the best I could do……more than I’d do too…..oh well.

I agree with all of the “screw themes” sentiment; until the girls ask for a puppy birthday or a unicorn birthday or a trucks and trains birthday, don’t worry about it.

Of course we don’t have any parent-friends, so nobody’s going to judge us. Though I’m pretty sure they’re already judging us at daycare because The Baby’s clothes never match.

Be more concerned with timing the party to fit with naptime so you have 2 happy babies! Lot sof people can be very stressful for babies and if you add being tired on top of that it could blow up in your face.

For my twins’ 1st birthday party (which was simply a few family members after Thanksgiving dinner because their birthday is close to that) I did the elaborate “pink napkins and blue plates” theme. You can tweak that… “orange plates and yellow napkins”! Mine weren’t at all into unwrapping gifts at that age, either. So, like you said – a party is pretty much going to be for the adults. We haven’t had a party for them since that first year. Lew takes the day off from work and the 4 of us do fun things as a family without inviting tons of people over.

Don’t worry about a theme untill they are old enough to pick one. Thats what we’ve done with all of our kids.

Personally, I’d take it as a creative challenge to execute a citrus inspired bird theme.

I was about to tell you that I didn’t have a theme for Van’s first birthday, but then I referenced the photos and I did. I made a Hostess cupcake inspired cake and decorated with snack cakes. But other than that, I just had primary colored decorations.

I’m a dork, Martha would hire me.

OK, I’m LMAO! I showed this to my friend (trips momma) and she is already buying decorations for her girls’ 1st b-day. They are 3 mo old. GOOD LUCK!!!! Costco cakes are the best.

For both the boys I just got whatever had first birthday written on it in boy colors and by that I mean whatever wasn’t pink. When thery’re older they’ll pick their own themes. I wouldn’t worry about it now.

Forget the theme. Get plates with birds on them or something if you must, but otherwise forget it. Focus instead on getting pictures of them tearing into the gifts and cake, then you’ll have what you want which is the whole point anyway right? I can’t WAIT to see pictures of them adorably devouring that cake in those crazy cute shirts.
