Shopping Carts and La Familia

Grocery shopping with twins is a different animal than shopping with one or even two kids of different ages. With a singleton, you can put the baby in the shopping cart seat or plop an infant carrier in the cart and go. With kids of different ages, you at least have one that can walk, even if he does have be on a leash or muzzle. But with twins, you either rig yourself up with a baby sling and a carrier, or wait until there’s someone around to help.

Unless you’re going to Sam’s Club.

Everything at Sam’s is bigger, including the shopping carts. It’s the only place I know of that has shopping carts that can accommodate two babies at once. Thank you, Sam’s.

Chris and I were able to brave this trip without a stroller and get all of our massively sized goods into the car with the girls.

Also, we have family from Spain visiting for the rest of the month. We headed out to the beach and caught this classic photo. Sure, we all look lovely (even though I’m wearing a fucking TANKINI), but we had to feed the girls a six pack to get a good shot.

THE BOTTLE ARE EMPTY I SWEAR.

Although I have every desire to update frequently with all the adorable photos we’ll be taking, I know I probably won’t and will suffer a traffic hit for it.

Anyway, la familia says “hi!”

I’m terribly cruel and stuff both (very big) boys into one shopping cart. I sort of twist their tooshes out to a back corner, and overlap their legs.

Our Whole Foods also has double seater shopping carts. It’s 20/25 minutes away, so we don’t go that often, but it’s nice to use.

oh man! That cart made me want to go to Sam’s Club. I DREAD shopping. I usually do the sling-infant seat combo which sucks!

I remember being so happy when I could finally put the boys in a cart. I love the double carts at BJ’s and Costo. Publix has some with a car at the front of the cart too, I had to beg at the Publix near my home to get the carts in stock, but now shopping is so much more convenient. Prior to that I would wear them both, one on front and one on my back, each in a Beco carrier. Enjoy your visit with the family.

I loved those carts, too… until the twins hit about 2.5. Then they start picking at each other and fighting… and you are back to square one. Enjoy them now!

For stores without twin carts, I highly recommend the soft booster seat (On-The-Go booster by The First Years… $20 at Target) and you can clip one into the back of a cart. The belts go nicely through the hole of the carts and clip them in safely. It also works nicely as intended – as a booster seat when you are on the go!
