Week 35 Update

I wasn’t sure I’d ever write “week 35″ in an update post, but guess what? I just did, sucka.
I’d like to take a moment and share this photo montage with you. It’s my belly growth in five-week increments. What a difference, no?
It feels like my pelvis has been crushed by an elephant, no exaggeration. Every muscle in my body is screaming for help. My belly is hanging low with the weight of over 11 pounds of baby. In fact, you can’t really tell in this week’s belly pic, but my belly has really dropped – there’s all kinds of room between my boobs and my uterus. When I walk, my belly touches the tops of my thighs. My hips feel arthritic. My lower back….my god, my lower back is a mess.
BUT! Mentally, I have a second wind. I am so excited, I can barely contain myself. And actually, let me gloat for a minute and say I am so effing proud of myself for growing these two babies. Just knowing how well they’re doing makes every pound, every stretch mark, every skin tag worth it. Indeed, the girls are in the 60th and 62nd percentile for growth – basically, it’s two singleton-sized babies at this age in my uterus.
Can I grow some babies or what?!?
On my first day off meds and bedrest, I did some tidying and cleaning. It was nice to clear out the cluttered shitpile that has accumulated around my couch area during the past 10 days. I managed to clean parts of the bathrooms, the outside tables, the kitchen sinks and counters as well. I even bathed. So I’m basically down for the count the rest of the night. My whole body is wrecked. The contractions are pretty average, though, which makes me mad that I was ever on those stupid pills in the first place. I’m glad I talked to the doctor about it, even if it only shaved five days off the prescription.
We’re pretty much ready for this to happen now. My bags are packed. Nursery’s done. My absentee ballot is turned in and Chris did early voting. Picked a pediatrician to get us started. Have a couple of things on order to pick up from Walmart, and I want to get the house in halfway decent condition – difficult to do, of course, when there’s someone’s head bulging into my vagina.
The weather has been cool here lately. This is making me nervous. How do I know if it’s too cold for the babies??? What is a good temperature to keep the house at? Is it better to turn on the heat and have them in fewer clothes, or bundle the babies up and keep the artificial air to a minimum? Advice?

Here’s what I found out:
-Baby sleep sacks are the way to go.
-Overheating is thought to be a major contributor to SIDS, so do not try to make a baby’s room too warm. The basic guideline is that a baby can sleep safely in a room that is comfortable for a lightly clothed adult. The ideal temperature is between 61ºF (16ºC) and 68ºF (20ºC).
Hope that helps.

Oh I am soooooooo excited for you! You are so close. When you make your first AFTER post, make sure you include pictures of the precious ones. And, dying to know their names
Good luck – you can do it!!
You are doing so awesome! I am excited for you. And you’re belly may be big (as it should be) but it’s a cute belly. Mine was pretty rough looking. I’ll have to ditto the above commenters on the room temp thing. Do what they said.
You’re almost there!
